About Me

I am 23 years old and currently in my last semester of pursuing my Bachelor's Degree in Communications.

Now, I know what you're thinking, "Communications? I thought this was supposed to be about Veterinary Medicine!" And you're right, it is. I actually just finished my application process and will be attending Veterinary School in the fall with the intention of becoming a small animal veterinarian. I'm so excited to continue this journey! This blog will take you through some of my own experiences, the process of applying to vet schools, as well as some of the things no one really mentions about vet med (both the good and bad).

How did I find Veterinary Medicine? Well, here's the story:
I entered college pursuing a career in event management. It was so much fun to work with amazing people and organize small parts of challenging but exhilarating events including concerts, fundraisers, galas, golf tournaments, etc. Although I loved events, I felt that something was missing. I missed learning about science and how things in our world work. So I began to study human nutrition, but after about a year I still didn't feel like I had found my place.
It had been three years at college and I felt no closer to a career that I loved than I did when I first got here. Lost, I chose to spend a summer volunteering locally and learning about other careers. I found that there is a veterinarian in my family who owns his own clinic. I spoke to this veterinarian and started shadowing during that summer. That one summer of volunteering became two. Then, those two summers got me a position as a veterinary technician at that same clinic. Veterinary Medicine has taught me so much. I love meeting new people, working with animals and helping them feel better, and having fun with the people who work in that amazing clinic. Long story short, Veterinary Medicine has not only given me my career goal, but it has become my passion.
